A new meeting place

This is the inaugural  opening of the new Palo Verde church blog. As much as I would like to take credit for this idea it did not come from me. One of the PV family said that she would like to have a way to have open learning and discussion throughout the week; not just on Sunday morning class. She suggested a blog would be a good way to do it. I think she was right. I will take credit for agreeing with her :-)

This blog is an open forum. That comes with some responsibilities and there are no few pits that we could stumble in if we are not careful. As we tread into this new medium for family communication there are a number of things we should all keep in mind.

  • This is viewable by everyone in the entire world with an internet connection.
This means that we need to be careful and choose our words carefully. Remember our mission: "That the world will know we are disciples of Jesus and through us will come to know Him." Remember that you will be representing Jesus - heart, soul and mind.

  • Keep it positive
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.(NIV Ephesians 4:29)

  • Don't get mad
There will be opinions that differ from yours. Accept that up front. Accept that you will not always get people to see things from your point of view. Realize that we are all going to experience this at some level and be cool with it.

  • Keep it on topic
We all love to chase rabbits from time to time. I encourage you to not take the bait when someone says something that will inevitably take a topic down a rabbit hole.
This is a new adventure and I am excited about the possibilities. Please feel free to share this site with your friends, both at church and outside of church.
